Each person can have different roles in different groups, with each role providing different permissions in the Learner and Champion Apps.
These are the three basic roles:
- Member: has access to the Learner app only; has basic permissions to engage in group activities, which may include commenting or leaving emojis on peer stories, depending on group settings.
- Leader: has access to both the Learner and Champion apps; can review group stories, create plans, access AI insights, and create new accounts.
- Manager: has access to both the Learner and Champion app; has all the permissions of Leaders, plus the ability to create new groups and change settings in a group.
Only Managers can assign (and unassign) someone as a Leader or a Manager. To access and change someone's role in a group, follow these steps:
- In the Champion app, click on the User tab.
- Select all groups on the group filter at the top of the page.
- Search for the person you are assigning a role to. Ensure that the Type filter is set to either Member or Leader, depending on the person's current role.
(For more info about searching for a person, refer to How do I search for a member across multiple groups?)
- From the results, select the row corresponding to the group where the role of the person has to be changed. Click on the Edit button on the far-right side.
- On the User Profile window, click on the Groups sub-tab. Click the corresponding dropdown selector for the group(s) and choose a role. Click Save before closing the window.
Important Notes:
- Each time that a new user account is created and added to a group, the default role is Member. But if the user exists in the parent group (Affiliation or Organization) as a leader or manager, then the default role in the child group will be the same as the parent's.
- Leaders must be added to the parent group as a 'Leader' in order to have access to the other groups under that parent, even without directly adding them to those groups. Otherwise, the leaders will only be able to access the groups which they are directly added to.
