The Notes feature now includes a built-in audio recorder so you can capture case notes or reflections by speaking — instead of typing them out. This is especially helpful for staff or coaches working in the field or on mobile devices.
📍Where to Find the Audio Recorder
Go to the Champion Dashboard > Users tab.
On the Users table, look for the person you are recording for and scroll to the Notes column.
Click the Notes link and click New if starting a new note or click on any existing note to edit.
In the Notes editor, look for the 🎙️Record Audio button under the attachment section.
🎧 How to Record and Attach Audio
Click the 🎙️Record Audio to start the recorder.
If prompted, allow microphone access in your browser or mobile device.
Look for a pop-up asking permission to use your mic.
Click “Allow” to proceed.
If no prompt appears, check your browser or device settings.
You or the person you are recording may begin speaking clearly.
The recorder may be paused and resumed as needed.
When on pause, the captured audio can be played back by clicking on the purple Play button.
If you need to delete the recording, just click on Discard and you may re-record.
- Once completely done with the recording, click the green Upload Recording button.
Wait until the audio file is processed and the transcript is displayed.
Device Behavior During Recording
There is no time limit for audio recordings.
On Apple devices (such as MacBooks and iPhones) and most Android mobile phones, the device will not go to sleep while the recorder is active.
On Windows PCs, it is not guaranteed that the device will stay awake while recording, even if the recorder is in use.
To avoid interruptions, we recommend adjusting your sleep settings before starting a recording. (See quick tip below on steps to prevent windows PC from sleeping)
Manually locking the device is still allowed.
If the user presses the lock button, the recording will continue in the background until it is stopped.
An internet connection is not required to record audio, but it is required to upload the audio file.
Any audio recordings that have not yet been uploaded will remain saved in the app for the person who recorded them.
🪟 Quick tip: Prevent sleep on Windows PCs
Before recording, we recommend temporarily disabling sleep and screen timeout settings:
Open Settings on your Windows PC.
Go to System > Power & sleep.
Under Screen and Sleep, set the options to Never (or a longer duration).
Start your audio recording.
After uploading the recording, you can restore your previous settings.
🌱 Tip: Use Recorder with Sprout
If Sprout is available in your group, any attached audio recording can be used to generate summaries or case notes. This is especially helpful when submitting longer spoken updates or interviews.
