A Step-by-step guide on how to properly review a story and provide meaningful feedback:
- Review the Module Goal and Story Criteria: This is very important as this will help you determine if the member has truly realized the objectives of the Modules and has successfully applied them in their lives.
- Decide whether to approve or return the Story: Select the Yes button to approve and No to return the Story for revision.
- Is it final or require a second review?: You may choose to deem your review as final or keep the story in the queue to be reviewed by another reviewer if needed.
- Story privacy: Some stories can be approved but can’t be made public for important reasons. In such a case, you may check the box for Lock to Private. (see When to Lock a Story to Private.)
- Strength-based feedback: As a reviewer, you play a very important role in making sure that the member receives meaningful and constructive feedback that they can apply in their stories and lives (see Strength-based Feedback).
-
Click on Submit: The author will receive an email or notification that the story has been accepted or returned depending on your decision.
When do I need to lock a story to private?
How to provide strength-based feedback?
- Try to address the user by their first name, if applicable, to establish connection, rapport, and let the user know that you see them as a unique individual.
- Thank them for their attempt, and highlight any areas of growth they mention in the story submission. Focus on the positive aspects of their story.
- Share your excitement regarding their growth and realizations, it will get them more excited about their growth too!
- If the story is unacceptable, politely explain what needs to be changed or added in order for them to answer all of the parts of the story criteria. Try to do this in a clear and concise way so that the user understands the directions they are being given.
- Keep vocabulary simple always.
- Let the user know that although their submission may not have been enough to be accepted, you are excited for them to make adjustments that will give the story more power to inspire others.
- Always end on a note of encouragement and positivity.
